Get Involved
Community Resource Center is fortunate to have the privilege of working with nearly 3,000 volunteers every year. Volunteers and interns play a crucial part in the daily operations of Community Resource Center.

Requirements
Volunteers must be at least 14 years old and have turned in a completed volunteer application. Processing of an application typically takes one week.  Those completing hours for school or as part of court-mandated service are advised to complete an application well in advance of deadlines.

Do You Need To Complete An Application?

Volunteer applications are required for regularly scheduled volunteer opportunities at our Thrift Stores for staff support of our services and programs for clients.

If you're just signing up for a shift at one of CRC's events, no application is necessary.

Response times vary according to need.  We are unable to confirm receipt of each application because of the volume of inquiries we receive, but we certainly appreciate your interest.  If you need hours for school or other community service requirements, please note that requests take 1-2 weeks to review.  If you want to check on the status of your application, please email Colleen Collazo at ccollazo@crcncc.org

Thrift Store Volunteers
Thrift store volunteers must be at least 14 years old and able to stand for at least 2 hours at a time. Tasks include unloading and loading cars, lifting boxes, moving furniture, cleaning, merchandising and taking out the trash. Some volunteers may even be promoted to ringing up sales on the cash register. The thrift store is a great place to volunteer if you enjoy being busy and helping others. The thrift stores is also a great place for volunteers who have just a few hours to complete for a school or court requirement.

Internships
Internships are available in our social services, children’s center and counseling departments. All interns are required to make a commitment for at least one semester. Interns will be subject to background check, finger printing and TB test before they can begin.

Service Learning
Community Resource Center encourages service learning, so propose a project or contact us about our current needs.  Think about your personal interests and goals, the number of hours you would like to commit to CRC, and your availability.

Event Volunteer - Holiday Baskets
Volunteers make Holiday Baskets possible. Volunteers are responsible for the collections and set up of food, outerwear, blankets, toys and baby items for over 1300 families every December. Volunteers should be at least 13 years old for safety reasons.  Volunteers 12 and younger are encouraged to participate in the Holiday Baskets education program, which includes tours and special activities that help youth develop an understanding of the value of Holiday Baskets and learn the basics of sorting work at the distribution site.

Event Volunteer - All Other Events
CRC has events throughout the year that require volunteer support. We provide training and supervision for each event. Take a look at our Events page to find the type of event that appeals to your own interests. If you're a student, working as an event volunteer can help you develop skills in customer relations, marketing, events, and much more.

If you are interested in volunteering at an EVENT, please note that shifts are typically 2-4 hours long.
